Advanced Torque and Current Control Techniques for PMSMs with a Real-time Simulator Installed Behavior Motor Model

Abstract: This paper presents advanced torque and current control techniques for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) with a real-time simulator which has a nonlinear motor model. This model is called "Behavior motor model", and it is developed based on finite element analysis results considering non-linear characteristics that include spatial harmonics and magnetic saturation. The real-time simulator is implemented within a circuit simulator that couples the behavior motor model with switching circuits in real-t… Show more

“…The second is radial electromagnetic power (also known as radial force (2) ), which occurs in an even order electrical angular frequency. The suppression of torque ripple has been investigated by methods such as optimizing the magnet arrangement and position of the flux barrier (3) , giving a skew on rotor (4) (5) , and superimposing a compensated current applied to the PMSM (6) (7) . Suppressing the radial force, giving the skew on the rotor (5) , and superimposing the compensated current has been proposed.…”

“…Some control methods of the PMSM using this technique have been already proposed and the specification of FEA based motor model have been represented in our prior work (16) . We presented direct torque control using FEA based motor model to reduce torque ripple due to spatial harmonics (17) .…”
