Advanced Nanomeasuring Techniques for Surface Characterization

Abstract: Advanced precise and accurate nanomeasurement techniques play an important role to improve the function and quality of surface characterization. There are two basic approaches, the hard measuring techniques and the soft computing measuring techniques. The advanced soft measuring techniques include coordinate measuring machines, roundness testing facilities, surface roughness, interferometric methods, confocal optical microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and computed tomography at the level of nanometer scale… Show more

“…Surface characterization using accurate and precise nanomeasuring techniques are important tools especially in medicine and biology to obtain high-quality threedimensional images of a surface. 2,21,41 The images are ideal to apply fractal analysis to obtain additional information on surface properties. No fractal or multifractal analysis study of the 3-D surface of Bowman's membrane of the human cornea was found in the available ophthalmologic literature.…”

“…Abrasive blasting leads to changes in both a surface area size and roughness parameters. The removal of the surface lay- ers and the subsurface work hardening occurs together with changes of mechanical properties and surface activity [4][5][6].…”

“…However, the present paper is not focused on classifying various methods and devices enabling three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions of solid surfaces. Some of these techniques and devices were described elsewhere (Sezen and Fisco, 2013;Mathia et al, 2011;Ali, 2012;Czarnecki et al, 2014). The present paper discusses one of the 3D reconstructive methods that is applicable to conventional microscopes.…”
