O monitoramento e o controle remoto de máquinas são essenciais em ambientes industriais. Tecnologias emergentes de comunicação como Web das Coisas, Comunicação Máquina a Máquina e Computação em Nuvem podem atender esta demanda de automação. O presente trabalho descreve uma solução para o monitoramento contínuo de grandezas elétricas em ambientes industriais inteligentes, que utilizam sistemas trifásicos. A solução proposta, chamada Smart Meter, utiliza uma arquitetura orientada a recursos e faz uso de um Smart Gateway para comunicação com serviços web RESTful em uma nuvem computacional. A solução proposta foi empregada em um estudo de caso real e avaliada por meio de testes de software. Os resultados obtidos nos experimentos comprovam a aplicabilidade da solução no monitoramento, bem como a corretude das medições persistidas na nuvem.

With rapid degeneration of conventional sources of energy, it is time to prepare our existing system to adapt to renewable power generation; a task full of challenges till today. The most promising approach that could provide a solution to this issue is the concept of smart grid. Smart grid, an advanced version of a present power system grid is expected to meet the challenges of future power demand by using advanced techniques. For better understanding of smart grid, it is essential to have knowledge of various components of smart grid and have a glance at various techniques used in it to improve the performance of overall system. This paper reviews some major issues related to constituent parts of smart grid and gives a brief introduction of some major research done in each field and to provide the basic information about developments in smart grid, and highlight the areas of future research for further advancement of smart grid.

Modeling the Convergence of Collaborative Systems of Systems: A Quantitative Case Study

A "system of systems" (SoSs) provides functionality beyond that offered by its constituent systems. The functionality emerges over time, and there is a need to predict and affect the system's convergence toward the desired functionality. The convergence of a collaborative SoS is dependent on political, economic, societal, and technological (PEST) factors. In this paper, the authors propose a model for predicting and analyzing the convergence of SoSs. We use the United States smart grid, a collaborative SoS, to demonstrate the power of the developed model. The United States smart grid's convergence depends on factors such as energy policies, roadmaps, grants, cost recovery, consumer support, and sufficiency of technological solutions. We constructed a dynamic Bayesian network to predict the convergence and then assess the influence of each of the PEST factors. The output of the convergence model can be used to predict and communicate technical progress to stakeholders and to analyze and optimize the investment of resources to affect the PEST factors. Understanding the convergence of SoSs is important for making sound business and technology investment decisions.
