ADSORPTION STUDY OF RHODAMIN B DYE ON IRAQI BENTONITE AND MODIFIED BENTONITE BY NANOCOMPOUNDS TIO2, ZNO, AL2O3 AND SODIUM DODECYL SULFATE

Abstract: The adsorption of Rhodamin B on Iraqi bentonite at the concentration range from 50 to 250 μg mL-1 was studied, Nano compounds; ZnO, TiO2, Al2O3 m and SDS in different amounts 0.01-0.1 g 10-1 g of Bentonite were used to modified the adsorption capacity of bentonite to remove the Rhodamin B from aqueous solutions. The study indicated that using 0.05 g and 0.1 of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) lead to increase the percentage removal (%R) from 79.3% for pure be… Show more

“…Adsorption is one of the most promising, favorable, and widely used method for the removal of pollutants from contaminated waters [6]. Recently, the use of nanoparticles for the removal of pollutants has become an interesting area of research due to their unique properties which are opening unprecedented opportunities and cost effective approaches; therefore various nanoparticles have been studied for this purpose [7][8][9][10]. Alumina is a well-known adsorbent and the form of -alumina is found to be more adsorptive in its activity than -alumina [11].…”

“…Uv–vis spectra of RhB modified nanoflowers demonstrate a peak at 554 nm (Fig. 3 B) indicative of RhB incorporation in the structure 51 . RhB adsorption was quantified by standard curve method (5.5 μM RhB in RNf15, 5.6 μM RhB in RNf35, 7.6 μM RhB in Rcit-Nf15, 7.9 μM RhB in Rcit-Nf35).…”

“…5c and d . This might be related to the shift in the peaks due to the enhanced resonance Raman scattering 41,42 effect for 514 nm laser excitation as RhB has a sharp peak at 552 nm in UV-vis absorption, 43,44 which is close to the 514 nm excitation laser. It can be seen from Fig.…”
