Adsorption of Triton X-100 and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide mixture with ethanol at nylon-6–solution interface with regard to nylon-6 wettability: II. Work of adhesion and activity of surfactants at interfaces

Abstract: On the basis of the values of the surface tension of the aqueous solutions of the Triton X-100 and CTAB mixture with ethanol, the surface tension of nylon-6 and the nylon-6-solution interfacial tension, the activity of the surfactant mixture and ethanol at the nylon-6-solution interface was calculated and compared to that at the solution-air one. For these calculations, the Sprow and Prausnitz equation was applied. The obtained values of the activity were used for the calculations of the work of adhesion of th… Show more

“…27,28 However, inorganic salts and organic small molecules in ionic surfactant solutions can interact with surfactant molecules to change the surface molecular structure of the complex solution, thus affecting its interfacial tension and greatly affecting its wetting and adhesion behavior. 29,30 Due to the differences in the molecular structures of C 12 E 5 and Triton X-100, the contents of chemical substances on the jujube leaf surface and the thickness of the wax layer on the surface, their wetting behaviors are significantly different. The two surfactants C 12 E 5 and Triton X-100, with the best experimental results in this paper, and Tween-20, with relatively good effects, are all polyether surfactants.…”

“…In the wetting process of solid surfaces by surfactant solutions, the orientation of surfactant molecules in the surface layers and the amount of adsorbed surfactants at liquid-air and solid-liquid interfaces play important roles. [1][2][3][4] Quartz is a high-energy hydrophilic solid and the water should be completely spread over the quartz surface. Quartz has been used in many branches of industry due to its special properties.…”
