Adsorption Mechanism and Electrochemical Characteristic of Methyl Blue onto Calcium Ferrite Nanosheets

Abstract: A rapid combustion process was applied to prepare CaFe2O4 nanomaterials using CaBr2·xH2O and Fe(NO3)3·9H2O as raw materials and CaFe2O4 nanomaterials were characterized by SEM, TEM, VSM, XRD, and FTIR techniques. The results showed that the prepared nanomaterials had a sheet-like structure, and for larger adsorption capacity of dyes, CaFe2O4 nanosheets prepared at 700°C for 2 h with average grain size was 93.3 nm, a thickness of 8.4 nm, and the saturation magnetization of 8.15 emu/g were employed as adsorbate … Show more

“…Due to its stability, easy to synthesize, and color varieties, it is used particularly in textile industries [6]. The color in the water affects the aquatic system, damages the water bodies, collapses the entire food chain which is very toxic, and creates harmful effects to the human beings like carcinogenic and mutagenic effects [7][8][9]. Alizarin red S (ARS) is among the highest-risk dyes available, and it is widely employed as a coloring agent in a range of industries, including textile, cosmetics, and many others.…”

“…7 The adsorption process is highly efficient for the removal of dyestuff from wastewater in terms of its low cost, ease of operation, and insensitivity to toxic substances in comparison with the other used processes. There are different types of adsorbents such as biomass, 8 nanoparticles, [9][10][11][12][13][14] polyvinyl alcohol, 15 active carbon [16][17][18] and clay material 5 to remove dyestuffs from the environment. Biochar is one of the most commonly used carbon-rich material in different studies due to its high surface area.…”
