Adsorption and reactions of C6 compounds with CC, COH, and/or CO groups on TiO2

Abstract: Acetone is generated upon mesityl oxide (MO) adsorption on TiO2 at 35°C. Water plays an important role in promoting MO decomposition to form acetone. It is suggested that diacetone alcohol plays a role in the transformation of MO to acetone. The thermal reaction of pinacol on TiO2 mainly produces pinacolone at a temperature higher than 100°C. However, acetone is mainly formed in the photocatalytic decomposition of pinacol on TiO2 in O2. Pinacolone is thermally transformed into 2,3‐dimethyl‐1,3‐butadiene in the… Show more

“…47 For instance, when the nanoparticle core exceeds a critical size, morphological instability develops, which makes the core asymmetric and allows for extension, towards the nanoparticle surface, leading to morphologies that differ from the original spherical core. 48,49 To avoid these problems, a purication process is needed, in which the SeNPs are completely separated from any reducing biomolecules and stored in an appropriate dispersion medium (such as water) for future experiments, as was done with the puried SeNPs used in the stability studies.…”

“…The manifestation of metal atoms and their measurements play crucial roles in the study of environmental and biological effects resulting from heavy metal exposure. [ 1–3 ] Heavy metals are naturally existing metals in the Earth's crust. [ 4–6 ] Heavy metals are also considered trace elements because of their occurrence at trace levels (ppb range to 10 ppm range) in various matrices.…”
