In an era characterized by technological disruption and unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this scholarly investigation explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping Leadership Dynamics in Higher Education Institutions (LDHE) within the specific socio-cultural and regulatory environment of China. Utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as operationalized through the SMART_PLS software, this research harnessed data from a robust sample of 381 key stakeholders in China higher education. The study's empirical findings indicate a noteworthy impact of AI-informed decision-making processes on LDHE, which was further mediated by the variable of AI Literacy among leadership. Moreover, the consequences of the ongoing pandemic served as a moderating factor in this relationship. These nuanced outcomes not only contribute to the theoretical discourse surrounding educational leadership and technological integration but also provide actionable insights for policy formulation and institutional strategies in an increasingly complex educational landscape.

Alkali-Activated Binary Binders with Carbonate-Rich Illitic Clay

This work deals with the investigation of alkaline binders obtained from binary mixtures of carbonate-rich illitic clay from deposits in southern Italy and two industrial by-products with very different total composition and calcium content, i.e., blast furnace slag and type F fly ash, respectively. To improve the reactivity, the selected clay was ground in a ball miller and heated to 700 °C. The binary mixtures were alkali activated with NaOH solution at 4 M and 8 M, and the activated pastes were cured at room temperature and relative humidity >90% in a climatic chamber. Heat flow, total heat and compressive strength (2, 7 and 28 days) were determined. The hardened pastes were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX). Results show that the main reaction product in all samples is a gel or mixture of C-A-S-H/(N, C)-A-S-H type gel depending on the calcium content in the precursors. The paste, made up of a 1:1 weight proportion of carbonate-rich illitic clay and blast furnace slag, showed the formation of a more compact matrix than that observed in each individually activated component, achieving the considerable mechanical strength value of 45 MPa after 28 days, which suggests a very positive interaction between the two calcium-rich solid precursors. The binary mixture of carbonate-rich illitic clay and F fly ash showed relatively low compressive strength (below 15 MPa), which has been related to the poor reaction potential of fly ash regarding the alkali activation at room temperature. The modification of curing parameters is expected to improve the reaction of carbonate-rich illitic clay/fly ash blend. The clay activation method used in this study has been demonstrated to be suitable for larger scale industrial pre-treatment set-ups.

This study establishes the effect of nano silica (NS) in the alkali activator on the behaviour of rheology and microstructure of Alkali activated material. The rheological behaviour of the Fly ash (FA)‐Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) (4 : 1) activated using water glass of Ms 1.1 (SiO2/Na2O), with nano silica (NS), Modified Poly carboxylate (MPC) was studied and the link between the composition and fundamental behaviour are reported. A total of 12 mortar mixtures were cast by varying the dose of NS from 0–3 %, and MPC 0–2.5 % and their fresh properties were obtained from the slump, setting time and flow value. The compressive strengths of mortars showed an increasing trend from 40 to 55 MPa with NS addition from 0–2.5 wt% at an optimal dose of 1 % MPC. The suspensions with and without NS fit well with Herschel‐Bulkley model, in the hysteresis cycle. The incorporation of NS at a threshold value below 2 % leads to a drastic change in viscosity with increasing time at a constant shear rate, implying. a thixotropy with yield‐type behaviour that are associated with the rebuilding of the flocculated structure with time. The nucleating effect of NS progressively improved the strength of the mix, due to the formation of compact gel microstructure which was confirmed by SEM micrograph with fewer pores. NS improves CSH gel and gelatinous silica phase in the matrix as is evident from the formation of the SiQ4 structural unit as it is absent in control. The poly (Sialate) structural unit in geopolymer ascertained from 29Si, 27Al MAS NMR chemical shift corresponds to Alq3(3Si) with the absence of remnant Al(IV) peak of Fly ash in NS (2.%) activated samples.
