Adopting Formal Verification and Model-Based Testing Techniques for Validating a Blockchain-based Healthcare Records Sharing System

Abstract: The Electronic Health Records (EHR) sharing system is the modern tool for delivering efficient healthcare to patients. Its functions include tracking of therapies, monitoring of the treatment effectiveness, prediction of outcomes throughout the patient's lifespan, and detection of human errors. For all the stakeholders, integrity and interoperability of the care continuum are paramount. Yet, its implementation is challenging due to the heterogeneity of healthcare information systems, security threats, and the … Show more

“…Successful exchanges were achieved as a result of applying an incentive mechanism that improves trust on the implied nodes. Jabbar et al [474] developed a decentralized framework based on Blockchain technology (DISV); the DISV ( [475], [476], [477]) represents a real-time application specification that provides secure communication among all participants in the transportation system. The developed solution is composed of three layers: perception, network, and application layers.…”

“… Health records: Generally, the classical computerized centralized systems [ 64 , 65 , 66 ] do not address the root of the patient data sharing problem. However, thanks to blockchains [ 67 , 68 , 69 ], a patient may simply collect his/her medical history without asking for a copy from each provider he/she has visited. In this way, the blockchain technology allows for the creation of widely secure and accessible data distribution services that interface with different existing healthcare systems.…”

“…In both [10,11], a usability testing procedure was used. In [12,13], model-based and online healthcare testing were studied and their challenges and methods were described in detail. In usability testing, the same scenarios are simulated and tested in both real-time and virtual environments.…”
