Adenylate kinase 7 is a prognostic indicator of overall survival in ovarian cancer

Abstract: Ovarian cancer (OC), a common malignant heterogeneous gynecological tumor, is the primary cause of cancer-related death in women worldwide. Adenylate kinase (AK) 7 belongs to the adenylate kinase (AK) family and is a cytosolic isoform of AK. Recent studies have demonstrated that AK7 is expressed in several human diseases, including cancer. However, there is a scarcity of reports on the relationship between AK7 and OC. Here, we compared the expression of AK7 in normal and cancerous ovarian tissues from The Canc… Show more

“…However, only a few markers have been approved for clinical application. A recent study reported that AK2 has prognostic and therapeutic potential in lung adenocarcinoma, 20 and AK7 is a prognostic indicator of OS in ovarian cancer 21 . We have demonstrated the prognostic significance of AK5 levels in the clinical diagnosis.…”

However, this is still a proof-of-concept study, the possibility of AK5 as a diagnostic marker and therapy target needs more clinical evidence.…”

“…Thus, it is reasonable to speculate that AK7 may partially influence the ability of cilia to intervene in OC progression. Zhang et al found that AK7 level in OC is significantly reduced by analysis of the TCGA database, the degree of which is positively correlated with tumor stage [ 25 ]. And this phenomenon is mainly related to conduction pathways such as EMT, TGF-b signaling and UV response.…”
