Adducts of arsenic trihalides with heterocyclic amines: synthesis, characterization, and thermochemistry

Abstract: = pyridine (py), /9-plcollne (/9-mpy), or -plcollne (7-mpy)] were prepared and characterized by melting points, elemental analysis, thermogravlmetrlc analysis, and Infrared spectroscopy. From the enthalpies of dissolution of the adducts In ethanol or 10% aqueous diethanolamine, arsenic trihalldes, and ligands at 298.15 K, the standard enthalpies ( , ) for the reactions AsX3(s,l) + nL(l) = AsX3-nL(s) were determined, giving the following values

Os resultados obtidos são apresentados na tabela 1 : Como tanto ∆ D H m o como ∆ M H m o associam-se à processos em que ou os reagentes ou os produtos (ou parte deles) se encontram no estado gasoso, situação reproduzida quando o aduto é aquecido e degrada-se termicamente, seria de se esperar uma maior facilidade em se correlacionar numericamente (o que é consequência de uma correlação físico-química) com dados de termogravimetria, estes parâmetros, do que, por exemplo, ∆ r H m o , que se associa a um processo em que tanto reagentes (haleto e ligante) quanto o produto (aduto) se encontram em fase condensada.…”

“…Chemicals, Arsenic trihalides were prepared as described in a previous paper (3), benzenamine (Química Fina Ltd., 99.5%), 2-nitrobenzenamine (Carlo Erba, 98.5%), 3-nitrobenzenamine (Fluka, 98%), and 4-nitrobenzenamine (Aldrich, 99%) were used as obtained without further purification. Solvents used in the synthesis of the adducts were purified by distillation and stored over Linde 4-Á molecular sieves.…”
