Addressing food loss and waste in fish value chain using a web-based information, Repository

Abstract: Food loss and waste (FLW) in fisheries is a major concern and occur in most fish distribution chains throughout the world. FLW across the fish value chain is estimated to be 35 percent. These losses constitute lost income to fishers, processors and traders and other value chain actors and contribute to food and nutrition insecurity. Thus, it is globally recognized as a challenge that needs to be addressed. There has been much work done to address and prevent losses in fisheries value chains. However, a key iss… Show more

“…One of the efforts is implementing suitable fish cultivation methods by government regulations, including environmentally friendly fish food. The feed criteria include floating feed type, low phosphorus content, feed nutritional content that can be easily/efficiently digested by fish, thereby reducing FCR (feed conversion) rates, measured and environmentally friendly feeding methods, and using quality and consistent raw materials [8], [17], [28]. 3) Leverage Analysis on Economic, Social and Ecological Dimensions: The following analysis process in assessing the sustainability of the tilapia processing value chain in economic, social, and environmental dimensions is leverage analysis.…”
