“…This is consistent with a previous study of eight cases of benign phyllodes which showed no amplification of genes commonly 16,17q,20q 19 1,2,4p,6,7,8,11q,15q,17,20q,Xp 3,9p,18 amplified in breast carcinoma, namely, MYC, INT2/ FGF2 and ERB2 genes (Lizard-Nacol at al., 1995). Also, there is no cytogenetic evidence for amplification in the form of homogenously staining regions or double minutes in the 11 phyllodes tumors which have been reported (Birdsall et al, 1992(Birdsall et al, , 1995Dietrich et al, 1994;Dal Cin et al, 1995;Warso et al, 1995). The benign cases of phyllodes tumors tended to show fewer chromosome copy number changes than did the malignant cases.…”

“…In previous cytogenetic studies of phyllodes tumors, gain of 1q was found in three cases and associated with i(1q) (Birdsall et al, 1995;Dal Cin et al, 1995). Using interphase FISH with differentially labeled probes for the pericentric region of chromosome 1 and a single copy marker distal to this, the presence of i(1q) was deduced in 4 of the 7 samples with gain of 1q (data not shown).…”

“…1 At present, genetic changes that characterize the course of phyllodes tumors are poorly understood. Conventional cytogenetic studies showed variable and complex changes, [8][9][10][11][12][13][14] the significance and prognostic relevance of which remains unclear. No chromosomal aberrations specific to phyllodes tumors have been identified so far.…”
