Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search to Solve Multi-Level Scheduling and Assignment Problems in Broiler Farms

Abstract: This research aimed to present a solution to the problem of production scheduling and assignment in broiler farms, which thus enabled the farms to achieve maximum profit. In the operation of farms, there are many factors that affect profits, such as the number of broilers being consistent with the demand of production plants, including profits from the sales and transportation costs. Therefore, we formulated a mathematical model and tested it while using three problem groups through the Lingo v.11 program. The… Show more

“…each energy level has a minimum capacity that must be respected and a maximum capacity that must not be exceeded. The set of constraints ( 5), (6), and (7) allow calculating the chicken quantity bred in each farm I using the energy level n. The constraint (8) calculates the number of chosen farms for breeding. Constraint (9) ensures that the sum of the quantities bred in farms I using energy levels n must satisfy the demand of center j.…”

“…This abundant information should be used properly by companies to bring about innovation so that the innovations produced will be able to encourage companies to compete in the industrial era 4.0. Innovation can emerge if driven by big data analysis technology tools (Praseeratasang et al, 2019). The company's adaptability has begun to emerge from the increasing use of social media and e-commerce.…”

“…Open innovations in the field of optimization techniques have been proposed in the literature in recent years. For example, Praseeratasan et al [41] proposed the adaptive large neighborhood search (ALNS) algorithm to solve real-world multilevel scheduling and assignment problems, in which ALNS is modified to solve the problem of a broiler farm. Theeraviriya et al [42] proposed the differential evolution (DE) algorithm to solve the location and routing problem; the innovation proposed in that study is that while considering the location and routing problem, fuel consumption is taken into account and DE is proposed to solve a special case of the generalized assignment problem [43].…”
