Adaptive Inverse Control of a Vibrating Coupled Vessel-Riser System With Input Backlash

Abstract: This article involves the adaptive inverse control of 1 a coupled vessel-riser system with input backlash and system 2 uncertainties. By introducing an adaptive inverse dynamics of 3 backlash, the backlash control input is divided into a mis-4 match error and an expected control command, and then a 5 novel adaptive inverse control strategy is established to elim-6 inate vibration, tackle backlash, and compensate for system 7 uncertainties. The bounded stability of the controlled system 8 is analyzed and demons… Show more

“…Another aspect of hose-riser development is the control systems which has had high traction in recent times. Adaptive robust control of flexible riser systems have been modelled separately (Zhao et al 2021a(Zhao et al , 2021b(Zhao et al , 2019a(Zhao et al , 2019b, and coupled models with vessel dynamics (He et al 2021, 2015a, 2015b) and during hose-riser installation (He et al 2014, Nguyen et al 2013, Do 2017a, 2017b. These control systems have been incorporated in marine hoses risers.…”

“…Similarly, the disturbance d(t) is unknown. In equation (3), rank(DA) = 2, rank(B) = 1, DA doesn't satisfy the matched condition, 13 so it is mismatched. Similarly, d(t) is also mismatched.…”

“…For DA and d(t), the following assumption are made for the controller design of this paper. Considering the existence of DA and d(t), a robust controller is needed for equation (3). In consideration of the advantage of SMC in robust control, SMC is utilized here for the robust controller design.…”

“…As we know, constraints commonly exist in industrial control systems and reflect in the input and output of physical, biomedical, hydraulic, mechanical, and piezoelectric systems [2], [32], [33]. If constraints are transgressed [34], [35], system damages or even severe hazards will arise. As a consequence, control design with consideration of constraints is greatly significant.…”
