Abstract:This paper presents a novel compiler algorithm, called acyclic orientation graph coloring (AOG coloring), for managing data objects in software-managed memory allocation. The key insight is that softwaremanaged memory allocation could be solved as an interval coloring problem, or equivalently, an acyclic orientation problem. We generalize graph coloring register allocation to interval coloring memory allocation by maintaining an acyclic orientation to the currently colored subgraph. This is achieved with some … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
