Active RC Applications of the Operational Transresistance Amplifier

Abstract: This paper presents several new active RC circuits employing the Operational Transresistance Amplifier (OTRA) as the active element. Applications of the OTRA in realizing a differential voltage amplifier, a differential integrator, continuous time filters and a quadrature oscillator are presented. The effectiveness of the proposed circuits is demonstrated using PSpice simulations. “…Several methods of designing of both second order and third order quadrature sinusoidal oscillators are available in the literature . The second order quadrature oscillators (SOQOs) implementation using the active RC circuits employing OTRAs [1], a cascade of two all pass filter circuits employing OTRAs [2,3], cascode of an all pass filter circuit along with a non-inverting integrator circuit in a closed loop employing DVCC [4] and low pass filter and an integrator in closed loop employing CDBA [5] are quite popular. A lot of studies have been carried out on SOQOs till date, however more recently few third order quadrature oscillators (TOQOs) have emerged.…”

“…Two different realizations of the TT biquad are shown in Fig. 4 [4]. The other two realizations can be derived by connecting the input resistance, R 4 , to the positive terminal of the first OTRA leading to the inversion of polarities of both the bandpass and lowpass responses.…”
