“…On the other hand, CK6 has been ascribed to the CCL17/22 group. In mammals, CD40-stimulated B cells secrete CCL17 and CCL22, attracting memory CD4 + T cells to an antigen rich environment [50]. In this study, we have demonstrated the chemoattractant capacity of CK5B and CK6.…”

“…It is worth mentioning in this respect that CD40 ligand (CD40L), a co-stimulatory molecule expressed by activated T lymphocytes, can be inserted at the surface of HIV-1 particles when budding from activated CD4+ T cells [23]. In particular, CD40L-bearing virions were shown to potently activate B lymphocytes, closely reproducing the functional consequences of the physiological activation of the natural CD40 ligand expressed by B cells [24,25]. As part of CD40L-triggered events, hyperactivated B cells express activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AICD), a DNA editing enzyme mediating immunoglobulin class switch recombination and somatic hypermutation [26].…”

“…Different cytokines and growth factors have been suggested to affect basic B cell functions because they are increased in the serum of HIV-1-infected individuals (14)(15)(16)(17)(18)(19). The B cell-activating factor (BAFF) (20,21) is one such cytokine that is mainly expressed by myeloid lineage cells (22,23) and is a potent regulator of B cell development and functions (24)(25)(26)(27).…”
