“…Based on recent literature, the Morbidity and Mortality Conference has been an essential tool in implementing these concepts. Kravet et al describe implementation of the ACGME competencies into resident education by integrating the M&M conference into Grand Rounds, whereas other general surgical literature describes models for direct implementation of the competencies into the M&M conference itself (2,4,12). Our study suggests that there is no standardized EM M&M format that addresses practice-based learning and improvement or systems-based practice, and the development of a format to incorporate the ACGME core competencies into EM M&M serves as a potential area for future educational research.…”
