“…Patients with this condition frequently show resistance to medical treatments, especially because of the unpleasant side effects and the objection to ingest traditional solid dosage forms, such as tablets [12,13]. Additionally, according to biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS), RISP is a class II compound, which means that it has poor water solubility and, consequently, a dissolution rate-limited absorption through the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) [14].…”

“…Surreptitious rejection of medication by patients occurs sometimes in clinical practice [15]. If a tablet is swallowed and the pH becomes more acidic, the olanzapine will dissolve more rapidly than in the more neutral pH of saliva; however, the time for complete disintegration may be no better than in the mouth.…”

“…For olanzapine Zydis ® ODT, the elapsed time for initial and complete disintegration was measured in two small in vivo studies [14, 15]. However, these studies used different methods: one took the first measurement of initial disintegration at 15 s, while the other took the first measurement at 5 s. It is desirable to compare disintegration times among different products using the same methodology.…”

“…The fast dissolving tablets disintegrates instantaneously when placed on tongue and releases the drug dissolve or disperses in saliva 1 . The fast dissolving tablets are useful in patients [2][3] , like pediatric, geriatric, bedridden or mentally disabled, who may face difficulty in swallowing conventional tablet or capsule 4 leading to ineffective therapy 5 . Most pharmaceutical forms for oral administration are formulated for direct ingestion or for chewing or for prior dispersion/dissolution in water.…”
