Acaricide resistance in Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus and Hyalomma anatolicum collected from Haryana and Rajasthan states of India

Abstract: Acaricide resistance status of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus and Hyalomma anatolicum ticks against deltamethrin and diazinon was assessed in Hisar (Haryana) and its adjoining district Churu (Rajasthan) using adult immersion test (AIT) and larval packet test (LPT). The mortality slope, LC50, LC95, 95 % confidence limit and resistance factor of field ticks were determined. Results showed that R. (B.) microplus ticks collected from Tohana (Hisar) were found resistant to both the acaricides while the ticks o… Show more

“…Acaricide resistance in arthropods is an inheritable trait [42], which is achieved by target site insensitivity to acaricides and increased metabolic detoxification by enzymes [56] such as esterases, mixed function oxidases and glutathione S‐transferases. Resistance of R. microplus towards deltamethrin was reported from different parts of India [15–18, 22]. These reports strongly coincide with the present findings on the development of acaricidal resistance in R. microplus against deltamethrin.…”

“…microplus. Gaur et al, (2016) and Katuri et al, (2017) reported resistance against deltamethrin, cypermethrin, and diazinon. It is concluded from present work that deltamethrin at 75 and 100 ppm can be recommended for tick control/irradication programme.…”

“…Resistance to acaricides has also been reported in isolates of H. anatolicum in 20 areas of three agro climatic zones in India and these acaricides were diazinon, deltamethrin and cypermethrin (Shyma et al, 2012). The ticks, H. anatolicum, were also found resistant to deltamethrin and diazinon using adult immersion test in India (Gaur et al, 2016).…”
