“…At present, many aspects of E.adenophorum are being studied widely [5]. Previous study indicated that E. adenophorum has the acaricidal activity [68], antitumor activity [9, 10], potential anti-inflammatory and other biological activities [11]. The previous reports showed that purified extracts from E. adenophorum could cause hepatotoxicity of mice and livestock [8, 12–15], especially the 9-oxo-10,11-dehydro-agerophorone which is the main poisonous components of E. adenophorum [16, 17].…”

“…Our laboratory has already extracted Euptox A from E. adenophorum Spreng and declared a national invention patent. We proved that Euptox A had highly acaricidal activity against S. scabiei and P. cuniculi in vitro and in vivo [39,40] and Euptox A presented significanty antitumor activity against the human lung cancer A549, HeLa and Hep-2 cell lines in vitro in a dose-dependent manner [41,42]. Other studies have also found that E. adenophorum Spreng contains a great amount of chlorogenic acid known as "Botanic Gold" and the extraction rate is 1%.…”

“…For example, the compounds in essential oils from this plant were found to be active on antibacterial, antioxidant (Pandey et al, 2014), and antiviral activity against tobacco mosaic virus (Jin et al, 2014). Nong et al (2012Nong et al ( , 2013Nong et al ( , 2014aNong et al ( , 2014b and Liao et al (2014) reported the acaricidal activity of this extract and the active sesquiterpenes. In our previous work, four new cadinane sesquiterpenes, including one compound with in vitro cytotoxicity against the HCT-8, Bel-7402, and A2780 cancer cell lines, had been isolated from the weed (He et al, 2008).…”
