About primary metaphors

Abstract: One important contribution to the Contemporary Theory of Metaphor is Gradys Primary Metaphor Hypothesis (1997), which claims that the emergence and nature of conceptual metaphors are often grounded in more experiential metaphorical patterns, called primary metaphors.
