Ablation adds value to the surgical treatment of colorectal liver metastases

Abstract: Conclusions: These results suggest that open RFA may be a more effective technique as it is associated with a lower local recurrence rate, albeit with no effect upon overall survival. However, the percutaneous group had a significantly larger mean lesion size and this together with the fact that patients undergoing percutaneous procedures are often less fit, or have more advanced disease, may partly explain these results.
