“…23 It has been reported that KRT10 expression is correlated with the aggressiveness of epithelial cell-derived tumors. 24 In agreement with our results, Lucas et al 25 demonstrated larger amounts of cytokeratin 10 in the serum and tissue of PTC patients compared to the control group by western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. Haptoglobin was the other protein with decreased amounts in PTC patients.…”

“…In cultured gastric cancer-derived cells, C3 is induced by tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in a dose-and time-dependent fashion, which suggesting the possibility of C3 in the development of gastric cancer (Kitano and Kitamura, 1993). Several studies have also demonstrated that complement components, including C3, and C5, are presented in various cancer cells, which indicating that complement is activated in the tumor tissue (Levin and Samuel, 1980;Lucas et al, 1996;Niculescu et al, 1992). In current study, we evaluated the association of tag SNPs in C3 gene with the risk of gastric cancer and didn't find any significant association for these polymorphisms.…”

“…Complement split products such as C1q, C3, C3a, C4, C5, and the MAC are prominent features of the inflammatory tumor microenvironment (101)(102)(103)(104)(105)(106)(107). Classically, the assumption has been that these activated complement proteins play a role in tumor defense directly through complement-dependent cytotoxicity (144) and indirectly through antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (145).…”
