Making faithful and pious human as the manifestation of religious characters has become one of the demands in the 2013 Curriculum (K13) that is currently implemented in Indonesia. It implies that instilling religious character is not only the duty of religious teachers but also physical education (PE) teachers. The dichotomy of religious and non-religious sciences has an impact on the lack of understanding and ability of PE teachers in developing learning methods based on religious character development. Therefore, this research aims at improving the competence of PE teachers in developing learning based on religious values. This research employs action research design done in three stages namely the pre-action stage, implementation and action stage and the post-action stage by involving 30 PE teachers in Sumedang Regency. This research found that: 1) There was an increase in the understanding of PE teachers regarding aspects of religious character in learning (21%); 2) This increased understanding was shown by the success of teachers in growing students' behavior reflecting religiosity including behavior of faith and piety (88.67%), clean living behavior (88.89%), environment love behavior (88.89%) and behavior that reflects tolerance (87.78%); and 3) The success of PE teachers in developing religious character was based on the nine learning steps summarized as TADZKIROH acronym. These findings reveal that developing students' religious character in PE learning requires the teachers to understand and apply the TADZKIROH method.

Tujuan penelitian: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Karakter Toleransi Siswa dalam Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam di SMPN 3 Muaro Jambi berdasarkan Indikator Peduli, Ketidaktahuan, Saling Menghargai satu sama lain, dan Menghargai perbedaan yang lain Metodologi: Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan desain penelitian adalah penelitian survei menggunakan instrumen kuesioner. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 226 siswa dari SMP Negeri 3 Muaro Jambi. Temuan Utama: Hasil yang diperoleh berdasarkan indikator Perawatan menunjukkan hasil persentase 45,6% dengan kategori baik dan 38,9% kategori sangat baik. Dalam indikator menghargai perbedaan pada orang lain, persentasenya adalah 47,3% dalam kategori baik dan 32,7% dalam kategori sangat baik. indikator ketidaktahuan dengan persentase 51,8% dalam kategori baik dan 14,6% sangat baik. Selanjutnya, indikator menghargai perbedaan orang lain dengan persentase 35,8% dalam kategori sangat baik dan 34,5% dalam kategori baik. Aplikasi penelitian ini: Penelitian ini dapat bermanfaat bagi peneliti sebagai bahan review dalam penelitian lain. Penelitian ini akan bermanfaat bagi SMPN 3 muaro jambi sebagai evaluasi dalam melihat karakter toleransi siswa Kebaruan penelitian ini: Pembaruan studi ini ditemukan dalam indikator yang digunakan. Dimana peneliti ingin melihat indikator yang digunakan berdasarkan aspek toleransi itu sendiri apakah siswa di SMP 3 Muaro Jambi memiliki kategori sangat baik, baik, cukup, tidak baik, dan tidak terlalu baik

This article discusses the friction between religious adherents with various dimensions of interest that are hegemonic. After reviewing various literature related to radicalism and intolerance, we find that radicalism leads to thinking level of radical competence and radicalism which leads to actions level and situations (radical performance) can encourage the emergence of various complex problems, one of intolerant conflict due to fanaticism so that it is easy to blame the others, exclusivity which tends to discriminate or separate and tend to be revolutionary by using violence to achieve their desires. Therefore, this article aims to explain the urgency of family's role in internalizing the values of tolerance in millennial generations, because the younger generation is experiencing cognitive opening that a micro-sociological process that brings them closer to acceptance new ideas of more radical. The family environment has a considerable influence on formation of a child's personality to a young age even when the child leaves family environment. Some of our recommendations to prevent and reduce radicalism and intolerance also as an effort to promote a culture of peace include; internalize the value of tolerance in family environment by building cooperation with the big community as well as with schools and religious organizations, as well as providing full protection supported by media literacy for millennial generations.
