A volumetric near-field scanner for millimeter-wave antenna measurements

Abstract: Ahstract-A 3-D volumetric near-field scanner for millimeter wave antenna measurements is presented. The error sources from cable flexing, when moving the probe antenna, are in the range of ±O.S o. The probe positioning accuracy is ±O.020 mm. Accurate positioning of' the antenna under test (AUT) is guaranteed by means of fitting holes. A dielectric waveguide provides a flexible connection with low attenuation between the AUT and the millimeter-wave source module. Measurements of a W-band standard gain horn and … Show more

“…The second important property of the antenna is the wide angular range of the radiation pattern. Hence, planar near field measurements were performed in an anechoic chamber [39] and the fast irregular antenna field transformation algorithm was applied to transform the measurement data into the far field, including probe correction for the measurement data [40]. To obtain 𝑥 and 𝑦 polarization components of the electric field, two measurements for co-and crosspolarization were performed, whereas the probe antenna, an open ended waveguide, was rotated by 90°for the second measurement.…”
