PurposeDigital transformation shapes industries and influences the forms of collaboration between companies. This study aims to investigate digital business strategy as a key to facilitating collaboration beyond organizational boundaries.Design/methodology/approachThe study focuses on the connection between digital business strategy and collaboration performance. The authors identify five types of digital business strategy elements based on the literature: development, objectives, resources, management capabilities, and digital leadership. The authors then studied the implications of these elements for collaboration performance using a survey. The study’s empirical data were collected from manufacturing and service companies, and 202 valid responses were received. The implications of the research elements were tested through regression analysis, which included the moderating effects of digitally enabled performance measurement.FindingsThe theoretical research framework identifies digital business strategy as a key determinant of collaboration performance, thus advancing the understanding of how companies can utilize digital business strategies and achieve enhanced collaboration performance. The results also show that the effect of digital business strategy on collaboration performance may be moderated by digitally enabled performance management.Practical implicationsThe results suggest that management capabilities associated with digital strategy are a crucial element in positively influencing collaboration performance. Further, digital strategy-related resources can be better managed with digitally enabled performance measurement system, which is reflected in improved collaborative performance. Thus, companies should invest in management capabilities and connect their digital business strategies and performance measurement systems to develop collaboration in digital transformation.Originality/valueThe study is among the first to translate an empirical understanding of the digital transformation of small and medium-sized companies into a conceptual framework of a digital business strategy.

Summary: Providing citizens with high-quality and safe medical services, providing information support for medical research and continuous medical education, making both doctor’s decisions and management decisions necessitated the provision of tools to ensure complex digitization of healthcare. To achieve these goals, a wide range of modern technologies have emerged. One such technology is digital twin technology. Modern medicine, being formed in the environment of Health 4.0, includes not only the treatment of patients, but also the management of healthcare, the prevention of diseases and the processes of health restoration. With the increasing popularity of information communication technologies, people’s demand for health services is shifting from offline service to new online models. Currently, the field of online medicine is not developed enough to serve the elderly, chronically ill people and the people with infectious diseases. Using the advantages of digital twins in solving these problems can give positive results. The article describes the nature, capabilities and applications of digital twin technology. The principles of the formation of the medical digital twin ecosystem are developed to ensure citizens’ accessibility to medical services and to make both medical and managerial decisions. The architecture and structural components of the digital twin ecosystem providing the connection between physical medical objects (patient, hospital, doctor, etc.) and their virtual images are shown. An ontological model for the staged construction and functionalization of the general DT of healthcare is proposed and its hierarchical architecture is established

Context: As industries are heading for digital transformation through Industry 4.0, the concept of Digital Twin (DT) -a software for digital transformation, has become popular. Many industries use DT for its advantages, such as predictive maintenance and real-time remote monitoring. Within DT domain, an emerging topic is the concept of an ecosystem-a digital platform that would create value for different stakeholders in an ecosystem of DT-driven products and services. However, current empirical research on Digital Twin Ecosystems (DTEs) is still in its infancy, with a limited amount of knowledge on potential stakeholders and their requirements. Objective/Methodology: Thus, the objective of this research was to explore potential stakeholders and their requirements. The research employed an empirical research methodology in which semi-structured interviews were conducted with DT professionals for data collection. Results: Data analysis of the study revealed 13 potential stakeholders who were categorized as primary (manufacturers, suppliers, subcontractors, and intelligent robots), secondary (maintenance service providers, platform integration service providers, tech companies, etc.), and tertiary (research organizations, third-party value-added service providers, cyber security firms, etc.). This study also presents the different requirements of these stakeholders in detail. Contribution:The study contributes to both research and industry by identifying possible stakeholders and their requirements. It contributes to the literature by adding new knowledge on DTEs and fills a research gap while contributing industry by providing ample knowledge to the industry's practitioners that is useful in the development and maintenance of a healthy DTE.
