A View of Cloud Computing

Abstract: In this work we strive to frame the full space of cloud-computing security issues, attempting to separate justified concerns from possible over-reactions. We examine contemporary and historical perspectives from industry, academia, government, and “black hats”. We argue that few cloud computing security issues are fundamentally new or fundamentally intractable; often what appears “new” is so only relative to “traditional” computing of the past several years. Looking back further to the time-sharing… Show more

“…The cloud computing paradigm has been designed for solving storage capacity and related computational issues. It enables high-performance computation with secure and robust storage capability [4,5]. In modern computing paradigms, a massive amount of data is stored and processed at various clouds rather than the centralized cloud.…”

“…Both gears strengthen CC: technological maturity and service-centric offerings. The first gear originated from technological innovations known as virtualisation of servers, high-performing networks and automation in data centres [28,29]. The latter emanated from increasing demand on services prospects.…”

“…Furthermore, CC represents a paradigm shift since it constitutes a business model innovation [74] where CC is a new opportunity to do business [54] as well as seeing it as virtualisation of IT provisioning and management of services [28]. Moreover, CC is a new paradigm as data are accessible to users anywhere, anytime, from any location via a thin browser.…”
