A User‐Oriented Method for Preferential Color Scheme Generation

Abstract: Harmony and preference are two important factors in constructing color combination for the purpose of color design. We presented a method for generating harmonious color scheme in a previous project. As an extension to the project, we propose here a method for generating color schemes that are based on user's preference. We considered color combinations as a set of color relations rather than a summation of specific color components (color elements); and we derived a model of six‐variable color relations, repr… Show more

“…Colours are iteratively and semi-random selected from the CIELAB colour space until discriminable and preference userdefined criteria are met (perceptual distance, name difference, name uniqueness, and pair preference) [46]. Hu et al developed an interactive visualisation tool for creating harmonious colour schemes [47]. The colours are selected based on two harmony principles (familial factors and rhythmic spans) and can be changed interactively.…”

“…Coal fired, gas fired and other thermal power units will change from the traditional planning mode focusing on meeting the power demand of the grid to the market mode providing diversified power contracts and services. Power generation based on market priority is becoming more and more significant in the medium-and long-term dimension of settlement, but it still has great significance for ensuring preferential purchase of electricity, heating for people's livelihood, safe operation of power grid and other aspects in the short-term dimension of day-ahead and real-time [2] .…”

“…With the help of signal processing and artificial intelligence technology, color harmony theory have developed rapidly in the field of computer-aided design. Hu et al abstracted the color combination features into a sixdimensional color relationship model, namely hue, chroma, brightness, span of hue, span of chroma, and span of brightness, and characterized individual preference as a specific parameter, so as to refactor the preferred color scheme to meet individual needs [14]. Aiming at the problem that the existing color harmony model overly relies on classical rules and ignores image semantic information, Lu et al introduced image semantic features (multi-color perceptual features and emotional features) to represent the image contents, so as to construct a color harmony prediction model which is more consistent with human's visual perception than the traditional ones [15].…”
