“…[65] Zheng et al used palladium (Pd) nanosheets as carriers of CpG, which achieved a prominent therapeutic effect through synergistic PTT and immunotherapy. [66] Wei et al fabricated a self-assembled nanoplatform by coloading immunoadjuvants of CpG, resiquimoid (R848), and a photothermal agent, indocyanine green (ICG), into the thermosensitive PLEL hydrogel, which elicited photothermal enhanced immune responses against postsurgical recurrence and metastasis of breast cancer. [67] Some other immunoadjuvants, including R837, aluminum hydroxide, ovalbumin (OVA), and glycated chitosan, have also been combined with HTT to achieve a synergistic enhanced therapeutic effect.…”

“…Enhanced anti-cancer effects have been successfully obtained by the combination of photothermal agents and immune checkpoint blockades 94 and immunoadjuvants 95 - 97 . Recently, Pd NSs were reported as carriers of immunoadjuvant CpG oligodeoxynucleotides by our group 98 . CpG recognized by Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) in the endosomes of antigen-presenting cells (APCs), exhibits potent immunostimulatory activities and has become a promising immunotherapeutic agent (Figure 9 A).…”

“…Lately, Zheng's group fabricated a novel Pd-CpG nanoplatform for PTT/IT with good synergy. [142] They obtained Pd-CpG nanocomposites with different Pd sizes (Pd(5):5 nm and Pd(30):30 nm) by exploiting Pd nanosheets as PTAs to load HS-CpG ODNs (CPG (PS)), which were conjugated with thiol groups. Moreover, in the group of mice treated with Pd (5)-CpG (PS)+NIR, the tumor growth was largely suppressed, in fact, 80% of the mice were entirely cured after 10 days when compared to the other groups.…”
