A Trajetória da Educação Profissional do Auxiliar e Técnico em Enfermagem

Abstract

Entre os cursos técnicos oferecidos no país, a área de enfermagem corresponde a 49,6% do setor de saúde. Desse total, 57% é composto por Auxiliares e Técnicos em Enfermagem. A formação de recursos humanos de nível médio vem sendo discutida por docentes-enfermeiros e pelas instituições formadoras dos profissionais de enfermagem, com ênfase especial nas questões referentes à qualidade dos cursos técnicos. Nesse contexto, uma breve revisão histórica da legislação brasileira, que norteia a formação e o exercício desses profissionais, compreendendo os atos legais relacionados a esse ensino e o exercício profissional da enfermagem, está apresentada cronologicamente neste artigo, analisando as legislações e os fatores políticos que contribuíram para direcionar a trajetória e a evolução da educação profissional do Auxiliar e Técnico em Enfermagem. O cotejamento entre a oferta de cursos de nível médio na área da saúde e o quantitativo de trabalhadores evidenciam a dimensão do desafio colocado para as Instituições de Ensino para o setor saúde.
