A thermo-mechanical model for SFRC beams or slabs at elevated temperatures

Abstract: The bearing capacity of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) at elevated temperatures is the subject of significant ongoing research, as the effect of steel fibres on concrete performance at higher temperatures is poorly understood. On one hand, steel fibres increase the average thermal conductivity of the concrete cross section and lead to greater heating within a concrete structural member during fire exposure, and on the other, fibres reduce crack widths and prevent excessive spalling. The former effect n… Show more

“…The underlying experiments cover a parameter range of 0.95 < S < 0.55; −0.30 < R < 0.50; and f < 20 Hz and thus include both, pulsating and alternating stresses. Equation (5) applies to normal‐strength concrete with and without (subcritical) amounts of steel macrofibres . Ref.…”

“…Here, N f i + 1 denotes the numbers of cycles to failure that result for the stress level S i + 1 applying Equation (5). They are multiplied by a nondimensional weighting function φ(n φ , ξ) defined in the interval of 0 < φ ≤ 1 according to Equation (24), to evaluate effects of the point in time (via n φ and Equation [25]) and the magnitude of a stress change (via ξ and Equation [26]) on residual fatigue lifes.…”

“…Solch eine Voreinstellung ist auch im Brückenbau hilfreich, wo Zwang aus Bauzuständen reduziert oder gänzlich eliminiert werden kann [10]. Darüber hinaus ist der Einfluss von Temperaturänderungen [15] auf beispielsweise Ultraschallwellen [16] und damit auch die experimentelle Induktion in Stahlbetontragwerke Gegenstand aktueller Forschung.…”
