Maria Montessori, Begründerin des heute wohl bedeutendsten Ansatzes der Reformpädagogik, legte in ihrem Schaffen großen Wert darauf, Kinder in ihrem un- bändigen Forschungsdrang zu unterstützen und so den natürlichen Lernprozess nicht zu behindern. Dass Lernen keineswegs mit dem Schulabschluss endet, sondern vielmehr ein Leben lang stattfindet ist mittlerweile beinahe ein Gemeinplatz. Obschon es heute sowohl andragogische, als auch geragogische Konzepte des Lernens in der Tradition Montessoris gibt, ist ein Abschnitt immer noch unterrepräsentiert: die Berufsaus- bildung. In einer systematischen Literaturrecherche wurde ermittelt, ob es derzeit Vorschläge oder Ansätze einer derartigen Berufs- schulausbildung gibt. Es geht da- bei nicht um Einzelinterventionen nach dem reformpädagogischen Vorbild im Setting einer konventionellen Schule, sondern um eine Integration der Montessoripädagogik in die ganzheitliche Schulentwicklung, wie sie beispielsweise H.-G. Rolff vorgibt. Als Ergebnis haben sich zwei Quellen identifizieren lassen, die einmal die Berufsbildung im Allge- meinen, sowie die Pflegeausbildung im Besonderen nach Montessori-Methoden skizzieren. Bei beiden Quellen handelt es sich um sehr grobe und rein hypothetische Ansätze. Ein Hinweis auf die derzeitige tatsächliche Umsetzung konnte nicht gefunden werden.

Virtual reality (VR) applications, especially those where the user is untethered to a computer, are becoming more prevalent as new hardware is developed, computational power and artificial intelligence algorithms are available, and wireless communication networks are becoming more reliable, fast, and providing higher reliability. In fact, recent projections show that by 2022 the number of VR users will double, suggesting the sector was not negatively affected by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. The success of any immersive communication system is heavily dependent on the user experience it delivers, thus now more than ever has it become crucial to develop reliable models of immersive media experience (IMEx). In this paper, we survey the literature for existing methods and tools to assess human influential factors (HIFs) related to IMEx. In particular, subjective, behavioural, and psycho-physiological methods are covered. We describe tools available to monitor these HIFs, including the user's sense of presence and immersion, cybersickness, and mental/affective states, as well as their role in overall experience. Special focus is placed on psycho-physiological methods, as it was found that such in-depth evaluation was lacking from the existing literature. We conclude by touching on emerging applications involving multiple-sensorial immersive media and provide suggestions for future research directions to fill existing gaps. It is hoped that this survey will be useful for researchers interested in building new immersive (adaptive) applications that maximize user experience.

Vocational Training in Virtual Reality: A Case Study Using the 4C/ID Model

Virtual reality (VR) is an emerging technology with a variety of potential benefits for vocational training. Therefore, this paper presents a VR training based on the highly validated 4C/ID model to train vocational competencies in the field of vehicle painting. The following 4C/ID components were designed using the associated 10 step approach: learning tasks, supportive information, procedural information, and part-task practice. The paper describes the instructional design process including an elaborated blueprint for a VR training application for aspiring vehicle painters. We explain the model’s principles and features and their suitability for designing a VR vocational training that fosters integrated competence acquisition. Following the methodology of design-based research, several research methods (e.g., a target group analysis) and the ongoing development of prototypes enabled agile process structures. Results indicate that the 4C/ID model and the 10 step approach promote the instructional design process using VR in vocational training. Implementation and methodological issues that arose during the design process (e.g., limited time within VR) are adequately discussed in the article.
