The connection establishment in Long-Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) is often executed for distributed user equipment (UE) nodes with frequent small data sets for transmission to the central enhanced Node B. LTE-A connection establishment consists mainly of an access barring check (ABC) followed by preamble transmission (contention). Previous studies of connection establishment have often assumed Poisson characteristics (without verifying the Poisson assumption). In this paper, we introduce a simple equilibrium analysis framework for comprehensively evaluating the LTE-A connection establishment, including both access barring and preamble contention. We conduct a detailed analysis of the backlog arising from the uniform backoff over up to T max o slots by UE requests that failed the barring check or collided in the preamble contention. We verify that the process representing the numbers of backlogged UE requests rejoining the connection establishment tends to Poisson process characteristics for high barring probability and long maximum timeout T max o . We present numerical comparisons of our equilibrium model with simulations for practical parameter settings. The comparisons illustrate the effects of the parameter settings on the convergence of the LTE-A connection establishment dynamics to Poisson characteristics for nonsynchronized and synchronized request arrivals. With the development of Internet of Things (IoT), a large amount of M2M (machine-to-machine) devices produce the data from a huge number of machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. A massive access congestion control scheme in M2M communication is important in a wireless M2M network, where a wireless M2M network is constituted by a large number of wireless M2M devices. In this paper, we developed a spiderwebbased massive access management protocol for M2M wireless networks. The wireless M2M network topology considered, in this paper, is a spiderweb-based topology, which belongs to a regular topology. The spiderweb-based topology is split into a number of sub-spiderweb, while each sub-spiderweb can be seen as a small reservoir. The main function of the small reservoir is to temporarily store the massive access if the congestion problem is occurred due to the massive assess has been suddenly happened from M2M devices. When the congestion problem is alleviated gradually, the temporarily-stored massive assess can be digested from these small reservoirs. The contribution of the proposed scheme is to reduce the packet loss rate and prolong the wireless M2M network lifetime. In addition, a dynamically adjustment of the different sub-spiderweb size is developed based on the amount of different data traffics. Simulation result finally illustrate that the proposed mechanism significantly reduces the packet loss rate and keeps the maximum network lifetime.

Abstract-In this paper, we propose a preamble (PA) collision resolution (PACR) scheme based on multiple timing advance (TA) values captured via tagged PAs. In the proposed PACR scheme, tags are embedded in random access (RA) PAs and multiple TA values are captured for a single detected PA during a tag detection procedure. The proposed PACR scheme significantly improves RA success probability for stationary machine nodes since the nodes using collided PAs can successfully complete the corresponding RAs using exclusive data resource blocks.
