“…Previous research has reported parent-child relationship as a root factor in developing individual gratitude ( Obeldobel and Kerns, 2021 ) that can significantly predict an individual’s gratitude ( Wu et al, 2016 ; Wang and Du, 2019 ). In addition, the parent–child relationship is an antecedent variable of psychological capital and significantly and positively impacts the individual psychological capital ( Kwok et al, 2015 ; Chen et al, 2017 ; Nolzen, 2018 ; Carmona-Halty et al, 2020 ; Choi, 2021 ). Recent studies have reported that gratitude and psychological capital allow students to cope positively with their study and life; these are critical for college students ( Du and Chen, 2021 ; Maykrantz et al, 2021 ; Wang et al, 2021 ; Zainoodin et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Psychological capital was first introduced by the American economist, Goldsmith who considered it to be consisting of several psychological characteristics that can improve an individual’s productivity and performance ( Goldsmith et al, 1998 ). This concept has rapidly and significantly impacted economics, management, and educational psychology ( Li et al, 2014 ; Nolzen, 2018 ; Choi, 2021 ; Effendi et al, 2021 ). Increasing research in recent years has identified several family environmental factors (e.g., parent–child relationships, family support, etc.)…”

“…17 Previous studies mostly regarded children's use of digital media as a pathological phenomenon, and thus focused on reducing problematic digital media use. 18 In addition, inconsistent results on the association between the use of digital media devices and children's happiness have been reported. 14,19,20 A balance between the pathological perspective of overdependence and strength-oriented perspective of digital citizenship is needed to examine children's use of digital media in this digital society.…”
