Our hand carries variety of microorganisms, it's essential not to neglect them. Hands are major source of infection. Hand hygiene is a vital principle and exercise in the prevention, control and reduction of healthcare acquired infections. Right hand washing and drying methods stop the chain of transmission of deadly pathogens form hand to other parts of body. Hand sanitization is preeminent aid in preventing nosocomial infections caused by different opportunistic pathogens and to get this, the use of hand sanitizer become must in recent circumstances. The purpose of the recent study was to prepare the Ayurvedic Sanitizer-"Vaidic-Care". This hand sanitizer is prepared by using "Gomutra" that is cow urine and this sanitizer incorporating the leaves of Ocimum sanctum, Azadirachta indica, leaves of papaya, alovera gel, turati, flower of ajwayan, flower of pudina and Bhimsen kappor, the well-known herbal combination with multidimensional activities and to evaluate their respective antimicrobial efficiency and safety of hands.The formulation was evaluated against specified micro-organisms. (E. coli, staphylococcus, lactobacillus, Trichoderma, aspergillus) by cup plate method. The significance was found to be more in comparison to the standard references.Vaidiccare had its unique fragrance. Research mainly focuses on antibacterial activity after combination herbal plants cow urine and amrut dhara.Maintain hand hygiene is play key role in food production, pharmaceutical industries as well as in covid pandemic. By using vaidic care hand sanitizer we can maintain hand hygiene which is an important step to stop various infections which is caused due to unhygienic hand. Vaidic care overcomes all the side effect caused due to the chemical sanitizer.

Indigenous medicinal plants enriched with flavonoids, alkaloids, poly-phenolic compounds carry antiseptic, disinfectant and antimicrobial activities. During old era, plant extracts were used as strong antiseptics and disinfectants to get ride from microbes. We aimed to present the herbal formulations and preparations for human health hazards free hand sanitizers based on indigenous medicinal plants with reported effective results against infectious microbes along with least toxic impact on environment. Easily available plants formulations safe to human health and environment are presented with easy procedure for their preparations. Data have been collected from literature for dissemination to scientific community and common society. A recent report published on human health hazards linked with the frequent use of alcohol based hand sanitizers provoked the scientific community to prepare safe hand rubs. National Poison Data System, USA revealed 36.7% increase in alcoholic hand sanitizer exposure and toxicity in first three months of 2020 as compared to 2019. Adaptation of alternative preparations of hand sanitizers based on natural and plant resources are the possible solution to get ride off toxicity problem. There should be more detailed screenings of indigenous plants with enriched flavonoids contents for their antiseptic properties and to develop eco-friendly and effective hand sanitizers as compared to chemical formulations.

An Investigation into the Effectiveness of Green Betel (Piper betle L.) Leaf Extract Hand Sanitizer

Green betel (Piper betle L.) leaf contains anti-thrush, anti-cough, astringent, and antiseptic chemicals such as saponins, flavonoids, polyphenols, and essential oils. Hand sanitizer can also be used as an antiseptic agent, which is a more practical option. The purpose of this study was to see how the composition of green betel leaf extract made by infusion affected its physical properties and bacterial inhibition. Hand sanitizer samples were made using different concentrations of green betel leaf extract (10 - 25 wt%) with and without the addition of tea tree essential oil. Sample testing included organoleptic tests, physical properties tests, and effectiveness tests on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. The results showed that the best composition was found to be at a concentration of 10 wt% green betel leaf extract without the addition of essential oil, with pH ranging from 5.2 to 5.8 and viscosities ranging from 1.32 to 1.99 cps, in the form of a watery gel and a clear yellow color. Meanwhile, hand sanitizer sensitivity testing revealed that none of the samples could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. This indicates that the concentration of green betel leaf extract in the sample is still insufficient to inhibit bacterial growth.
