The present study aims to examine the portrayal of the feminist characteristics of Maleficent as the main female character. Numerous researchers have focused on Liberal feminism on the main female character in the film as the main topic of their research. However, there have not been so many studies that particularly focus on care-focused feminism. For this reason, the present study aims to fill the gap by exploring the portrayal of the feminist character in Maleficent through care-focused feminism. The study employs a qualitative approach and textual analysis since this study focuses on an in-depth and descriptive analysis of Maleficent from evidence in the film text. Framed by the theory of care-focused feminism (Gilligan, 1982) and film theory (Bordwell, Thompson, & Smith, 2016) to achieve the aims. The study found Maleficent"s portrayal of care-focused feminism can be seen from the three stages she experienced, which concludes that Maleficent is a main female character who does not only fight for her rights as a woman but also cares for others -women and men-to achieve harmony. Thus, this study implies that this portrayal offers a different kind of feminist character for young viewers.

This article explores science fiction films, a popular genre known for its depiction of technology as a symbol of the future. The future depicted in these science fiction films is a sign of hope and critics of a particular social problem. Using Interstellar and Ready Player One as case studies, this research aims to explore the broader and deeper meanings conveyed through the narrative structure of the films, including language, issues discussed, and the use of other elements. The analysis uses a qualitative method, which involves observing the movie, recording important data, and connecting the narrative with visual aspects. The research reveals how narrative and visual elements complement each other to create a memorable cinematic experience. The results show that Interstellar is identified as a science fiction film rooted in scientific principles, with a focus on space exploration and time dilation. Ready Player One, on the other hand, leans more towards fantasy, incorporating virtual reality and magical elements. Despite this difference, both movies are considered science fiction, as fantasy shares elements with the genre.

This study aims to find the types of diglossia and the factors of the use of language variations in the videos of “Steve Tv show, Netflix is a Joke, ABC, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on the YouTube channel. Diglossia is defined as a situation where two language variations occur at the same time. This is a content analysis and the data were taken from conversations in the video analyzed using Trudgill's theory. Further, factors of the occurrence of diglossia in the use of language variations are based on Yule's theory of diglossia. Using observation as main instrument of collecting data, all diglossia occurring in the selected videos are classified into high, medium, and low classes to be tallied to come to the final findings. The findings highlight that diglossia is found in six of the eight videos. The writers identified standard English as dominant on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon's YouTube channel. While the use of non-standard English is more dominant in videos on the Steve Tv Show, Netflix is a Joke and ABC channel. The factor that causes a lot of language variation is the ethnic background where this factor is found on 3 YouTube channels, the age factor on 2 YouTube channels, the speech community factor on 2 YouTube channels, and the gender factor on 1 YouTube channel. From the two types of language variation and four of the five factors of diglossia found in the videos, high language variation and ethnic background factors are language variations and dominating factors
