The article presents the main principles of the integrated evaluation of macro environment components and factors influencing the performance of transport companies as well as providing the validated quantitative evaluation models and results obtained in evaluating the macro environment of Lithuanian companies providing transport services. Since quantitative evaluation is growing in importance, the process of developing the principles and methods of business macro environment quantitative evaluation is becoming relevant from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The created methodology is based on the concept of macro environment as an integrated whole of components, formalization and the principle of three‐stage quantitative evaluation. The methodology suggested involves the quantitative evaluation of primary factors and macro environment components as an integral dimension (expressed in points). On the basis of this principle, an integrated macro environment evaluation parameter is established as its level index. The methodology integrates the identification of significant factors, building scenarios, a primary analysis of factors, expert evaluation, the quantitative evaluation of macro environment components and their whole. The application of the multi‐criteria Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method is validated. The integrated evaluation of the macro environment of Lithuanian freight transportation companies was conducted. As a result, the level indices of all components as well as the level index of macro environment considered as a whole of components were identified. The latter reflects the extent of deviation from an average level of a favourable macro environment. This is important for developing strategic marketing decisions and expanding a strategic area.

ResumoA obtenção do consenso em uma negociação e/ou decisão em grupo é um problema complexo que envolve vários agentes, critérios, alternativas, interesses, pontos de vista conflitantes e grupos de pressão. Neste contexto, imprecisão e riscos estão presentes. Ferramentas que tratem imprecisões e/ou indiscernibilidades e sistemas de apoio à decisão e/ou negociação podem e devem ser utilizadas para facilitar a obtenção de um consenso. Este artigo, após uma revisão de algumas Metodologias Analíticas, mostra como usar estas metodologias com o propósito de reduzir os conflitos, minimizando o tempo de negociação e buscando o consenso.Palavras-chave: negociação; decisão em grupo; apoio multicritério à decisão. AbstractTrying to reach a consensus in a negotiation or decision process can be a very complex problem involving multiple agents, different criteria, alternatives, conflicting points of view and pressure groups, etc. In this context uncertainty and risk are quite often present. Tools for imprecision analysis and group decision aiding or negotiation can be thus used in order to facilitate achieving a compromise. This article, after a summary review, shows how to use some methodologies in order to minimize conflicts and negotiation time trying to achieve a consensus.

SUMMARYEver since the Earth Summit was launched at Rio de Janeiro, research has been done on the problems of developing indices for the health of the environment and for its sustainable development. However, this research has concentrated more on national and regional levels than on local levels, more on spatial comparisons than on time series analysis, more on short-term than on long-time analysis, more on qualitative than on quantitative analysis. In contrast, therefore, this paper presents an indicator system procedure for measuring Beijing (the capital of China) environmental sustainability based on the Pressure-State-Response (PSR) philosophy, evaluates the trend of Beijing environmental sustainability index (BESI) quantitatively for 21 years, from 1983 to 2003, and suggests three great opportunities in the near future that are expected to provide some dependable information to policy makers. The results suggest that Beijing is still far from environmental sustainable development. The total trend was better in the 1980s than in the 1990s, and has improved slightly since 2000.
