A Study of the Factors Affecting the Separation Force of Artificial Leather Laminating Process

Abstract: The separation force is one of the most important properties of artificial leather industries. This paper aims to determine an optimal setting of artificial leather laminating process in order to obtain the desired separation force. There are three potential factors directly influence the separation force for both machine direction (MD) and transverse direction (TD). These factors are take-off temperature, heating temperature, and embossing pressure. To study the effect of these factors on the separation force… Show more

“…Nowadays, artificial leather has becomeimportant materials that widely used to substitute genuine leather in the automotive interior, clothing, footwear, sofa fabric, decoration, and other application (Pimapunsri et al, 2017). Comparing to genuine leather, these materials have stable production and lower production price, thus have obtained a good market (Gurera & Bhushan, 2018).…”

“…Spreading is most widely used in the manufacturing of artificial leather. This method consists of coating plastisol on a moving fabric using a roller or a knife (Pimapunsri et al, 2017;Rybachuk et al, 2007). The processing through plastisol is one of the most efficient procedures since its ease processing and low equipment costs (Rybachuk et al, 2007;Zadhoush et al, 2004).…”

“…Over the past few decades, the fashion industry and scientific researchers have gradually pushed for the development of leather substitutes, leading to the design of numerous synthetic and natural materials [1,2]. Today, synthetic leather is an important material that is widely used in place of genuine leather in products, including clothes, footwear, sofa fabric, home decor, and car interiors [3]. Due to their consistent manufacture and lower production costs than genuine leather, these materials have a strong market [4].…”

“…Polyvinyl chloride-coated polyethylene terephthalate (PVC-coated PET) fabric is a type of artificial leather that is made by coating plastisol on a moving fabric using a roller or a knife (Khaothong, 2019; Pimapunsri et al, 2017; Syabani et al, 2020). Plastisol is prepared by mixing the components (PVC resin, fillers, pigments, plasticizers, stabilizer, blowing agent and the expansion accelerator) in certain sequences (Braun, 2002; Khaothong, 2019; Pimapunsri et al, 2017; Syabani et al, 2020).…”
