“…Melanocytes of young and adult camels had several processes containing numerous melanin granules extended between neighboring keratinocytes. Snell and Bischitz (1959) found the same results in Guinea pig epidermis in which dendritic processes of melanocytes were sandwiched between adjacent keratinocytes.…”

“…In the present study, we found that the melanocytes had dendrites near the keratinocytes for transportation of melanin pigment to these cells. This result comes in alignment with that obtained by (Simon & Różanowska, 2008; Snell & Bischitz, 1959). Inside the melanocytes of snout skin of the domestic pig ( Sus scrofa domesticus ), the melanosomes were presented in four stages; the first stage appeared light and rounded, while in the second and third stages, they appeared elongated, but the third stage appeared darker and in the fourth stage, they appeared rounded and electron dense.…”

“…The greatest effect was seen in the areola where in addition to definite morphological changes in the melanocytes and in the reduction of melanin there was also a significant reduction in cell counts. The increase in the amount of melanin found in the sole of the foot would appear to be explained by the stimulating effect on melanogenesis known to follow the operative procedure of the initial skin biopsy; this effect on melanogenesis has been fully reported previously [Snell & Bischitz, 1959].…”

“…The increase in the sole of the foot, however, was found to be no greater than that which follows the operative procedure associated with skin removal [Snell & Bischitz, 1959].…”
