A Study of the Effect on the Wettability of Laser Generated Microstructure of Building Materials

Abstract

This study is performed to examine the effect of laser treatment regarding the wettability and the aesthetical appearance of different kind of materials.1. The properties of the surface of the tested materials can be changed.2. Stainless steel is super hydrophobic. Glass is super hydrophilic. Polycarbonate has a range of contact angle of water, depending on the kind of micro processing/ structures 3. The surface microstructure can keep more effective about the maintenance of the aesthetics which, when the surface structure of stainless steel is larger water contact angle than untreated and the surface microstructure of glass is smaller water contact angle than untreated.
