A study of permanent magnet rotor for large scale wind turbine generator system

Abstract: We have developed and tested a new shape of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMG) rotor for a large scale wind turbine generator system. The new rotor structure has ventilation flues between poles that provide two advantages: (1) effective cooling of the permanent magnets, and (2) reduced eddy current loss.
