“…The switches are made to commutate with zero current by setting zero voltage vector of the inverter to occur at both the beginning and ending of each portion. A separate synchronizing circuit is required [10] to ensure the occurrence of zero voltage vector of the voltage Table 2 Switch state and the DC voltage in each interval source inverter during the commutation of rectifier switches when conventional sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique is employed. However, this need for synchronizing circuit can be eliminated if space vector modulation technique is employed instead of sinusoidal pulse width modulation for the voltage source inverter present in the SSSC.…”

“…Regarding commutation strategies of IMC, two main rules should be taken into account: (i) in order to prevent short circuit in the converter input, the incoming and outgoing switches should not be switched on together at any point in time; and (2) in order to prevent sudden overvoltage occurrences and switches' damage, these switches should not be turned off simultaneously . To ensure the establishment of two conditions at any time, snubber circuits are used in the rectifier bridge of IMC, but because the DC link part in IMC has no smoothing circuit such as electrolytic capacitors in conventional VSI, the load current must be diverted to the snubber circuits during the period switching dead time in the rectifier bridge.…”

“…But snubber circuits cause additional losses and input current waveform disturbance. Rectifier zero‐current commutation and rectifier four‐step commutation are two current commutation methods that do not require snubber circuits for a pulse width‐modulated rectifier , and in this paper, the rectifier four‐step commutation is implemented in a rectifier bridge to eliminate snubber circuits drawbacks.…”

“…Conventional voltage source inverters are normally equipped with an electrolyte capacitor in their DC link which has a short life compared with an AC capacitor (metalised polyester film, etc.) [10][11][12] and also they occupy a considerably greater space in the inverter. This supports the proposed topology of AC-DC-AC converter without DC link capacitor.…”
