A Statistical Study of Several Methods used in Determining the Botanical Composition of a Sward: I. A Study of Established Pastures1

Abstract: Synopsis The inclined point quadrat method provided reliable and objective estimates of the botanical composition of pasture swards. Visual estimates had greater variation than the point quadrat methods. Correction factors were developed for species which were over‐estimated or under‐estimated by the inclined point quadrat methods.
