A state of art review on optimization techniques in just in time

Abstract: With the development of faster means of communication, better quality computers and rapid transportation systems, manufacturing is no longer restricted at local level, but has become global in character. As a manufacturing company has to become competitive for its survival, it has to supply products of consistent high quality at reliable and reduced delivery time. Market also demands more product variants that means reduced lot size and high flexibility in operations. Manpower cost has also risen. All these fa… Show more

“…It is consistent with their reactive approach. In other words, the ability to adapt to customer needs in terms of flexibility, quality, and OTD is essential to be competitive in MTO contexts [1,44] There are clear parallels in multi-projects and MTO, especially considering the difficulties in managing resources for simultaneous activities. “…Therefore, it helps in identifying potential bottlenecks and weak areas and in creating trust in the new system among operators and the management (Welgama and Mills 1995). Just-in-time modelling usually focuses on the link between changes in different production factors and the corresponding production performance measures (Sultana and Ahmed 2014).…”

“…Make-to-order (MTO) companies are increasingly sensitized with concepts from other industries, such as flexibility, quality and the ability to adapt to consumer demand (Sultana & Ahmed, 2014). Customers demand more variety and more reliable products, as well as shorter delivery times (Romagnoli, 2015;Borreguero-Sanchidrian, Pulido, Garcia-Sanchez & Ortega-Mier, 2018).…”
