Este trabalho buscou investigar os tipos e características de feridas crônicas em membros inferiores de pacientes cadastrados em Unidades de Saúde da Família no município de Cruz das Almas -BA. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza descritiva de abordagem quali-quantitativa. A coleta de dados aconteceu por meio da aplicação de um questionário formado por 22 perguntas, sendo 19 fechadas (múltipla escolha) e três abertas. Também foram feitas mensurações das feridas. Os sete participantes do estudo estavam cadastrados em seis USF (dois na zona urbana e quatro na zona rural). Para a análise estatística foi utilizado métodos e técnicas da estatística descritiva. Os participantes do estudo eram, predominantemente, casados ou viúvos, analfabetos ou com ensino fundamental incompleto. Todos eles eram portadores de doença vascular, encontravam-se em bom estado mental, estavam limpos, eram independentes e não tinham problemas com a bebida. Os ferimentos ocorreram com maior frequência na panturrilha direita e no pé direito; estavam no estágio 3, com diferentes dimensões, eram do tipo traumático com sensação dolorosa regular, em estágio de granulação; as bordas eram irregulares, exsudados de características variadas, em media quantidade e limpos contaminados. Os medicamentos utilizados nos tratamentos eram de origem farmacêutica.Palavras-chave: Ferida. Assistência. Tratamento. Atenção Básica. Venous leg ulceration (VLU) is one of the most predominate medical disorders worldwide and in the western hemisphere it affects around 1.5% of the general population and up to 5% of the elderly population. Unfortunately, this trend will only increase given the growth of an aging population worldwide. Understanding its pathophysiology that begins with venous hemodynamic abnormalities and leads to inflammatory alterations with microcirculatory changes is critical to delivering effective curative therapy. As such, the main component to treatment is reversing the underlying venous hypertension and pro-inflammatory milieu using compression treatment along with various adjuvant therapies. Given its impact, a comprehensive multi-pronged approach to care, treatment and prevention is required to reverse the increasing trend that is observed worldwide.

Abstract: Venous ulcer occurred mainly in the low-income population, who presented with little formal education. Generally, the ulcers were present for a long time and were recurrent, with repercussions for the capabilities of patients to work.
