A Slotted Patch Antenna With Enhanced Gain Pattern for Automotive Applications

Abstract: A single-layer via-less rectangular patch antenna for automotive applications in C-band is proposed. To match the needs of a vehicular dedicated short range communication protocol, the resonant edge of the antenna is enlarged to narrow the beamwidth in the H-plane, while at the same time a pair of thin slots serve as inhibitors for the higher modes, permitting adequate matching and polarization purity. The proposed single patch antenna presents a realized gain about 6.85 dB, H-plane beamwidth narrower than ±32… Show more

“…This final design has resonant frequency, S11 parameter and maximum electric field at 6.376 GHz, −14.8565 dB and 21.5 dB V/m, respectively. This design has an enhanced radiation field and has applications in advanced biomedical, agriculture and wireless technology [11][12][13]. To check the sensitivity, ten biological phantoms were loaded on D2 and D3.…”

“…An eight-element UWB MIMO antenna was designed [19], with the antenna elements placed orthogonally to offer dual polarization. A rectangular-shaped patch antenna was proposed in [20], with high inter-element isolation. A multiband dual-polarized antenna was developed in [21], where the antenna elements were placed orthogonally to increase isolation and achieve polarization diversity.…”
