A single robust stability-indicating RP-HPLC analytical tool for apigenin quantification in bulk powder and in nanoliposomes: a novel approach

Abstract: Background Apigenin (4′, 5, 7-trihydroxyflavone), a flavonoid, is present usually in fruits and vegetables possessing numerous biological properties like antioxidant, anti-viral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and chemoprevention activity. So present study was aimed to prepare and characterize nanoliposomes of apigenin and estimate its encapsulation efficiency by stability-assisted reverse-phase (RP)-HPLC method. Results The stability indication… Show more

“…The particle size of the coated nanoliposomes could be affected by the material type and preparation methods, such as ultrasonic dispersion and thin-film evaporation [ 43 , 44 ]. The PDI values give an indication of a particle size distribution in the emulsion, and the lower value showed higher stability [ 45 ]. The PDI values of empty nanoliposomes and different concentrations of RO nanoliposomes were between 0.266–0.283, and the different coated concentrations of RO did not significantly affect the PDI values of the nanoliposomes.…”

“…LOD and LOQ were assessed as per the ICH Guidelines Q2(R1) (21). Both parameters limit the amount of analyte that may be evaluated (23). The ratio of the detected amount to added amount was calculated to assess the average percentage of recoveries (18).…”

“…The method for estimating piperine content using UV-spectrophotometric method was similar to that described above. [25][26][27][28] Samples were subjected to acid, base, oxidation, and photolytic degradation in order to evaluate the stability of the established UV-Spectroscopic approach as per ICH Q1A (R2) guidelines. The percentage degradation was estimated.…”
