A simulator for parasitic effects on lines including a tool for modeling discontinuities

Abstract: For fast realistic simulations of parasitic effects on boards, a novel "Parasitic-Effects Simulator" (shortened to PES) has been developed at the FhG-LFT in Munich. The tool divides the circuit to be simulated into line systems and network parts. Compared to the original network, the network parts feature a reduced complexity and are computed by conventional network simulators (SPICE, ELDO, etc.). The line systems in between are simulated by a transmission line simulator especially concepted for this purpose.
